Head for St Combs and enjoy some great fun at the St Combs Gala

Friday 16th

The millenium gala started on Friday 16th June with a large entry for the quiz night.  A maximum of fifty teams of four entered for the quiz, with many more teams being turned away.   The teachers team won the event (so they should, don't you think?)

Friday night also saw this year's village Gala Queen sash being presented to Jenny Tait.  Her princess was Joanna Dunbar and Pearl Riddoch was voted the glamourous grannie.

Saturday 17th

The kid's disco in the village hall saw the next generation of disco dancers boogie on down to DJ Scott Buchan.  Saturday evening was the turn of the village juniors to let their hair down at the disco in the marquee tent.  Unfortunately there was a poor turn out for this event. A well, better luck next time.

Sunday 18th

Mid day Sunday is the start of the grand pool competition.  With a top prize of £300, some of the top players in the area will be out to do some hustling.

At 2pm the great scavenger hunt starts.  Local knowledge will come useful here for finding all the weird and wonderful items on the game list.

Saturday 24th

This year's gala day was gray and cold but that did not deter hundreds of people turning out to enjoy the highlight of the week.  With the usual favourite attractions, this year saw some new events taking place to keep the gala fresh.  A Falconry display proved very popular and the kids were given the opportunity to see and handle these beautiful birds up close.  Various inflatables, including an 80 feet slide, were available for any one who had the energy and the courage to try them out.  Have a look at the pictures to get a taste of the day.
