St COMBS Aberdeenshire Scotland 1999 St Combs GALA |
11/05/00 |
The 1999 St Combs Gala yet again exceded expectations with record crowds generating a massive financial boost to the village fund. The gala week raised in the region of £15000. Plans are already underway for the Millenium Gala. If you have any thoughts on what we should do for this once in a lifetime event, why not drop an email with your suggestions. The good people on the gala committee always welcome feedback (of any sort!!)

And so the sun sets on another successful St Combs gala. The hard work of the small but dedicated committee must be heartily applauded and a big vote of thanks goes out to them. Now the work begins for the millenium Gala.
Visit St Combs and join in the fun. If you enjoy yourself - then we'll be happy.

Tuesday evening saw fortune continue to smile on St Combs with another beautiful evening for the primary schools football and netball tournaments. A large turn out of competitors and spectators saw some great games of football played to a very high standard. For the village of St Combs, the high point of the evening was their school netball team emerging undefeated and being crowned champions. Unusually this year, the girls netball team had two boys taking part and they more than played their part in the success.

The Great Scavenger Hunt
Touching wood and crossing fingers must be a very popular activity with the St Combs Gala Committee judging by the fantastic weather the village has been enjoying this week. The occasional shower through the day has been forgotten about in the warm sunny evenings when the Gala events take place. Today is no exception and the teams taking part in the 'Great Scavenger Hunt' will be able to enjoy the search through the street of St Combs. Teams of four will search the village for thirty articles. The team who finds the most wins - simple eh?
For a change, two pictures of Alec Buchan's beautiful garden in West Park

Saturday Night Dance to 'The Brothers' - In the marquee (licensed)
Beautiful weather greeted the thousand+ people who attended St Combs gala day. For the entire afternoon the village park was packed as the children (and adults) enjoyed the many attractions taking place.
Tickets for the evening marquee dance had been sold out weeks in advance so a capacity (and good natured) crowd enjoyed dancing the night away to the band.
